A Message from Our President

Since its birth in 1997, Carey has engaged in the exciting and strategic work of training men of God with the word of God, for the sake of the people of God, and all to the glory of God. Each year we pour into the lives of hundreds of pastors and leaders around the globe. Yet the need remains great, as nearly 9 out of 10 churches around the world are led by pastors who have never before had a single day of formal training. When you partner with Carey, we are able to equip these men with the truth of God’s word, encourage them through lasting relationships, and provide them with high quality, academically rigorous, and pastorally focused resources.

By God’s grace, we are anticipating that the reach and scope of our training work will continue to multiply and expand in 2026 and beyond. However, we cannot do this vital work of training leaders for the global church without you! We are looking for seasoned pastors who are theologically reformed and who have a heart for the nations. If that sounds like you, would you prayerfully examine the teaching needs that we have in the following pages and commit to link arms with us by teaching 1, 2 or perhaps more courses in 2026?

We ask each of our trainers to raise their own support to cover their trip expenses and to help underwrite a portion of the cost of training these pastors. Anticipated trip costs for 2026 are $2,700 for a 1-week trip or $3,200 for a 2-week trip. There are no travel costs associated with ZOOM teaching, but we invite you and your church to consider including Carey in your missions giving. You can even sponsor the training of one of our global pastors for a monthly gift of $35.

If you would like to learn more about teaching with us or other ways in which you and your church can partner with Carey, I’d be delighted to connect with you. Thank you for your partnership in the work of the gospel.

Soli Deo Gloria!

Go!: Frequently Asked Questions

Travelling and teaching with Carey is a meaningful way to invest in pastors and church leaders around the world. It does require flexibility, preparation, and a willingness to adapt to different contexts. This page outlines what you can expect — from travel and accommodations to teaching settings and cultural considerations — so you can make an informed decision about whether this opportunity is a good fit for you.

Our teaching trips are usually 2-weeks in length (in which case you will normally be asked to teach two courses). It is possible to take a shorter 1-week trip but in many cases, because of the distance travelled and cost of the airfare, our teachers find it better stewardship to stick to the 2-week block. It should be noted that most locations require additional travel days. Therefore a 2-week teaching trip might look something like this: Friday – Begin outward journey Saturday – Arrive at destination Sunday – Minister in local churches Monday-Friday – Teach first course Saturday – Rest/Sightsee/Local ministry Sunday – Minister in local churches Monday-Friday – Teach second course Friday – Return journey home

How long are the trips?

Our teaching trips are usually 2-weeks in length (in which case you will normally be asked to teach two courses). How many teaching hours for each course?

The number of teaching hours varies slightly from location to location, but you will normally teach for 25-30 hours per course.

What does the cost of the trip cover?

The cost of a teaching trip with Carey includes: Economy airfare, accommodations, daily breakfast and lunch during training sessions and ground transportation in country. What’s not included: Any required visas, vaccinations and travel insurance, Sight-seeing trips, some evening meals.

Can I add additional days to my trip for sightseeing?

In most of our regions you will be able to add additional time to your trip if you wish to spend time sight-seeing. Your sight-seeing activities must however remain consistent with our travel risk policy. You are responsible for any additional trip expenses incurred while sight-seeing

Will I be part of a team?

Many of our teachers go as the sole teacher, but that does not mean that you will be alone. Once you arrive in the training region, our local coordinator will serve as your host, and you will spend most of your time with him. You may also be assigned a translator who will accompany you as needed. We also have trip options available for those who would prefer to travel with another teacher or as a part of a team.

Will you provide me with course materials, or do I develop my own?

We will provide you with teaching materials that have been used by others as well as a course syllabus and exam. Some of our teachers prefer to teach the notes as prepared while others may make some modifications, assuming that they remain consistent with the syllabus and exam. You will be able to discuss options with one of our team in more detail.

Can I make my own travel arrangements?

If you prefer to book your own flights, please ensure that you work closely with our office. We have vetted several options for in-country accommodations and ask all of our teachers to stay only at these approved properties. Many of our teachers find it easier to simply allow our Carey team to make the arrangements for them (we try to work closely with you to accommodate your travel needs and preferences).

Will I need an interpreter?

Many of our training locations will require you to teach through a translator. We work hard to ensure the quality of our translators as well as to choose men who can help you to understand the local culture.

What are the requirements for teaching?

To serve as a member of our teaching team we require that you subscribe to the Second London Baptist Confession (1689) or Westminster Confession. You should also have extensive pastoral experience (we typically look for around 10 years+) as well as appropriate academic qualification for the teaching level at which you will serve. For those who are interested in participating in a teaching trip but who don’t meet the requirements to serve as a lead teacher, there are also opportunities to participate as an apprentice teacher in coordination with one of our team.

Will my trip be cancelled?

In very rare instances some matters beyond our control may lead to the cancellation of a trip. We will always do our best to communicate with you about any changes or cancellations as early as possible. Should you need to cancel or reschedule a trip, any refunds will be subject to our refund policy.
